Message from Alison Helm, Head of School
The heart of the work we are doing at Curwen Primary School is based around our ethos of TEAM and RESPECT. Staff, parents and our local community work collectively to ensure the best possible outcomes for all of our children; academically, socially and culturally. Although we are extremely proud of the academic achievements of our pupils, we are even prouder of their determination to become confident and caring individuals whose positive behaviour frequently gets commented on by visitors.
Along with having a well-planned curriculum that enables our children to develop their literacy and numeracy skills, we also teach our foundation lessons through a topic based approach. This supports the pupils in developing their knowledge and skills to a greater depth and the use of visits and ‘Big Outcomes’ allows them to proudly show off this knowledge to different audiences.
We also undertake a vast number of extra-curricular activities and trips including music, sport and creative arts opportunities and different residential visits. Collectively these promote our underlying values of acceptance, tolerance, celebration of diversity and creativity; values that are also at the heart of our wider community within Plaistow and Newham.
Please feel free to take a look at our school website should you like to find out more about Curwen. We are always keen to show our school off so you are also more than welcome to come and visit us; please contact the school office should you like to take up this offer.
