Kensington Primary School has been awarded the Pearson Gold Award for Primary School of the Year: Award for Making a Difference!
We are really proud to announce that Kensington Primary School have been awarded the 2020 Tes Award for Wellbeing and Mental Health. The news was announced at a live event, held online this year, in which Kensington was in the running against 7 other schools.
We are really pleased to announce that Kensington Primary have been awarded a GOLD EAL (English as an Additional Language) Quality Mark!
91% of Kensington’s pupils have EAL, but it is a huge range of EAL pupils. Around 70% are from South Asian backgrounds, but it is also a school with a very regular stream of new arrivals, including East European Roma with little or no prior experience of schooling and a lack of literacy in any language.
At the heart of Kensington is a new, carefully researched, distinctive and innovative curriculum. It has four key elements: health (physical and emotional), communication, culture and academic.
The school’s 2019 Key Stage 2 outcomes were well above the national averages for all pupils and EAL pupils, and pupils leave Kensington equipped to thrive in secondary school.
The assessor commented:
"The strapline on Kensington Primary School’s website is “Inspiring children for exciting futures.” The school does what it says on the tin. It inspires children and it inspired me too."
We are so proud of this accomplishment, and what it means both for the school and its community.
Following the Prime Minister's announcement on Saturday 31st October, we would like to inform parents that our schools will remain open for all students, and any changes will be notified as soon as possible should they arise.
