We are also pleased to represent YST as Well Schools Assessors. We will be supporting the assessment process to help schools acheive their Well School accreditation. Meet our assessors:
Catherine Slater - P.E Specialist Leader in Education
Catherine is a highly experienced PE specialist with over 25 years in primary education. Holding a Master’s in PE, recognition as a Specialist Leader of Education, and extensive expertise from her role as a PE Adviser, she drives improvement across schools and supports children from EYFS to Year 6. Her outstanding practice ensures pupils leave Year 6 physically literate, confident, and inspired to enjoy lifelong participation in sport.
"I believe Well Schools supports school improvement by prioritising the health and happiness of students and staff. A whole-school approach to wellbeing creates the foundation for academic success, as children and young people learn most effectively when they are happy and healthy."
Paul Belcher - Sports Hub Director
With over 20 years’ experience in Sports Development and School Sport, Paul is dedicated to creating inclusive, inspiring opportunities for all children to be active and achieve their best. As P.E. Subject Leader at Curwen Primary School, he led the team to earn both the YST Gold Quality Mark and one of the first School Games Platinum Awards nationally. He developed innovative initiatives such as ‘Make a Splash’ whole-school swimming and had partnerships with National Governing Bodies. Now, as Sports Hub Director, Paul supports 13 schools delivering high quality P.E and School Sport each year with renowned national partners.
"I believe Well Schools supports real school improvement because wellbeing is central to who we are as a Trust. When we prioritise the mental and physical health of our children and staff, we create a community where everyone feels valued and supported."
