Collective Workshop

This one day course seeks to support those with school responsibilities for organising and leaving Acts of Collective Worship (ACW). The day will:

- Give staff practical advice to experience a number of different forms of ACW;

- Time for reflection and planning

- Knowledge of Ofsted's drive on fundamental British values, with examples of how ACW can make a valuable contribution;

- Understanding the legal requirements for ACW, school policy documents; and

- A wealth of resources shared

GCSE Revision Session

Training for NQTs is imperative if they are to have the knowledge and skills to teach religious education well in Newham.

NQT Training will:

- Equip NQTs to plan lesson effectively from SOW;

- Focus on understanding the religious and cultural make up of Newham;

- Provide places to go to get their questions and issues in teaching RE answered;

- Provide high quality resources to use in RE lessons and

- Support for NQTs to become creative and thoughtful in teaching RE

Religious Education network meetings are run to give an opportunity to bring together RE leaders and teachers within secondary schools to meet, network and work collaboratively on projects, helping in middle manager responsibilities.

Network meetings with:

- update subject leaders on local and national information;

- help subject leaders understand their reole and responsibilities within school;

- share best practice models and examples in RE; and

- work with outside agencies and faith groups to support schools in delivering high quality RE

Staff Twilight Inset

Session 1: Thoughtful RE

This twilight will give staff confidence to reflect on the types of questions they ask when teaching RE, and will give them practical, usable resources for ensuring high order thinking skills are being used in their RE teaching

Session 2: Outstanding RE

This twilight will give staff the opportunity to understand the purpose of RE. Providing support around progression in RE as well as providing plenty of inspirational tasks for staff to use.

Session 3: Creative RE

This twilight focuses on using a wide range of creative pedagogies to teach RE with. It seeks to strengthen teachers ability to plan for RE in cross curricular ways, helping to raise standards in RE.

Cost: £250 per staff meeting
